About me
Hi, I'm Kerstin Petau-Siegmund.
I offer language services in English and German, including translation, proofreading, subtitling and transcription. As a dual citizen with international experience, I combine intercultural understanding with professional expertise. I mainly work with texts in the areas of tourism, international relations, sustainability, nature, culture, religion, and literature. In my work, I place strong emphasis on professionalism, diligence and thorough research of specialised terminology.
My academic background includes a University Certificate in Translation, a Master's degree in Global Studies and a Bachelor's degree in Human Geography. In addition, professional experience in Austria and Australia has shaped my perspective on language and communication, such as my role in customer service for an airline and my work in the international higher education sector. Today, I bring all of these experiences and qualifications together in my work as a language services professional – with the aim of conveying content accurately, clearly and authentically.
I have always had a passion for languages, countries and cultures. As a child, I travelled the world with books and stories of faraway countries. Later, I had the opportunity to travel to many different countries and meet inspiring people from all over the world. Through these experiences, I've seen how language connects people and enables meaningful interactions. This awareness has stayed with me up until this day. I have since turned my passion for words and my enthusiasm for intercultural communication into my profession.

When you visit this website

Contacting KPS Translations
When you get in contact with KPS Translations through the contact form on our website, via email or by any other means, the personal information you submit (name, email address, city/suburb, telephone number) will be stored with KPS Translations in order to respond to your enquiry and in case of any follow up questions for one year. If your enquiry results in a contract, the retention periods required by law will apply. KPS Translations will not disclose this personal information without your consent, except where required by law. Fields in the contact form marked with an asterisk are mandatory. There is no legal or contractual obligation to provide this data. If you fail to provide us with this information, it will simply mean that you will not be able to submit the form and we will not be able to respond to your request. The collection of data via the contact form and the subsequent processing of that data are carried out for the purpose of enabling your request and our response to it. By using the contact form, you agree that your personal data will be collected, processed and stored by KPS Translations for these purposes. Your consent is given voluntarily and may be withdrawn at any time with effect for the future. Data storage
For accounting purposes, KPS Translations stores the following customer details: name, address, phone number, email address. These details will not be disclosed, except where required by law. The personal information that you have provided to us is necessary for the fulfilment of the contract or to carry out precontractual measures. All contract details will be stored until the expiry of the retention period required by law for tax purposes. The details will only be stored on computers or devices with password protection and limited physical access. We secure personal information in paper files that we have to store for accounting purposes in locked locations with restricted physical access. The bases for processing your personal details for data storage under the GDPR are Article 6(1)(b) (performance of a contract) and Article 6(1)(c) (legal obligation).
Your rights
You generally have the right of access, the right to rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, withdrawal of consent and objection to processing of your personal information. You may submit your request via email to mail@kps-translations.com. If you believe that the processing of your personal information breaches data protection laws or that your data protection rights were infringed in some other way, you can complain to the supervisory authority.
